I really need more friends.
Friday I got off work with a whole night of nothing to do. As is my custom in such situations, I decided to avoid boredom by going to a movie. I wanted to partake in Rush Hour 2 since it seemed really funny. I called my best friend Susan. She was too tired to go (as if she does anything). Yvette wasn't home. Melodie wasn't home. Just like that, I had used up my short list of friends.
I'm not totally averse to attending movies alone; I just prefer not to. So I coerced my mom into accompanying me. (My mom isn't a fan of sequels. I can't blame her. History has demonstrated how they pretty much suck. We enjoyed ourselves, though. It was just as funny as I had hoped.)
I was really disappointed by this all too frequent situation. It's not that I don't enjoy my mother's company. I really do. I just wish I didn't have to be Ms. Popularity in order to have someone to go to the movies with.
Perhaps this won't be so much of a problem when I move to Kent. Most of my friends are there now. Hardly anyone I know is still here. It will be nice to not only be able to find friends, but also have an apartment in which to entertain them. Having a bathroom and kitchen is going to be great. I don't even have to share with anyone. I can't wait.
