Today I did absolutely nothing. It was one of those rare days when I didn't have to go to work. I usually only work about 5 hours a day, but the 45 minute drive to and from work also takes up a lot of time.
I don't usually like days like this. I don't think it's good when I have nothing to do. I can either become totally lazy or get myself into trouble. Today it was the former.
I planned on doing something productive like washing my hair or scrubbing the tub. Of course, I didn't do any of that because it would require work. Instead, I slept for most of the day like the bum I am. Actually, it's probably just what I needed. I've been suffering a bad bout of insomnia for the past couple of nights. I had worked up quite a sleep debt.
Unfortunately, this also means I failed to do some things I really should be doing. I haven't given my change of address form to the post office, or given my change of address to companies who bill me (Hmmm? Do I really want to do that?), or called the phone company, or called the cable company, or called my dad, or ANYTHING. See what happens when I'm not kept busy? I lay around like Jabba da Hut.
I spent a good chunk of the day reading. I really want to start reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman, which I finally got from the library after being on the waiting list a couple of weeks. However, I always skip book to book and I often don't finish them. So I decided to make myself finish reading Juno and Juliet by Julian Gough. I had only picked the book off the shelf because the cover looked interesting. It didn't seem like the kind of book I would like. However, I decided to read it anyway because I was still waiting for American Gods. After all, the book is about two girls in college, and I'm a girl in college.
The book is actually quite good. Even though it takes place in Ireland, I have identified with a lot of it so far. I guess some things about the college experience are universal.
Tomorrow morning I have to make the depressing trek to the local Toyota dealership. I have to get the lock on my car door fixed. I have no idea how I'm going to pay for it. (Selling some bodily organs comes to mind. Do I really need that extra kidney?) At least I can use my credit card to stall for time.
Anyway, I really should be getting to bed soon. Here's to a productive tommorow!
