Alain and I had a double date with Josh and Christine on Friday. I was worried about how it would go because I can never think of anything to say to Alain. We usually ride to church in silence. However, our date was pretty fun.
We all met at the art museum. We spent most of the time in the Egyptian and medieval sections of the museum. I, as always, was completely infatuated with the armor and weaponry of the medieval section. The most interesting thing we saw was a small suit of armor created for a child. Apparently, it was customary for boys of nobility to have suits of armor. It even came with a tiny crossbow that shot stones and pebbles (which I suppose makes it just a glorified slingshot).
We also managed to breeze through the modern art section and view some of the museum's newest acquisitions. I suppose we covered a lot of ground in the time we had. It's hard to see all of the museum in a day.
Next we went to Josh's apartment for a homemade dinner. We had salad, garlic bread, and some excellent chicken alfredo. I didn't know Josh was such a good cook. The food was so delicious I could've eaten the entire skillet by myself!
We occupied ourselves with a game of Tetris while the meal finished cooking. Josh's roommate Mike still has a working original 8-bit Nintendo. This amazed me because my poor Nintendo gave up the ghost years ago. I've been through a Super Nintendo and a Playstation since then. However, you just can't beat the originals, and Tetris is the bomb.
I got off work at five today and had absolutely nothing planned, which worried me tremendously. My social prospects were very similar to Thursday; a day that I didn't have to work and had no chores to keep me occupied. I was bored out of my mind! It took a lot of effort not to slit my wrists just so I could have something to do. I knew I couldn't survive another day like that.
That's why I was extremely grateful when I saw Jessica standing outside the door of our office. She was about to ask to borrow a pen when she saw me in the corner, vainly attmepting to complete a crossword puzzle. I casually asked her if she was doing anything tonight while eagerly hoping I wouldn't have to spend another night alone like a big fat loser. Luckily, she was free.
We ate dinner at Chipotle's, which is one of my favorite restaurants. I feel sorry for those of you who don't have a Chipotle's in your area. They make the best burritos I've ever eaten, and they're so huge that one burrito will fill you up completely. It's expensive for a fast food restaurant (each burrito is around $5), but it's well worth the money. It's definately not like lousy old Taco Bell.
We went to my apartment next because she has never seen it. We decided to go to a movie but we still had a few hours to kill. We watched The Opposite of Sex (which contains one of the best roles Christina Ricci has ever played) to pass the time.
The night ended with us seeing Ocean's 11, which was quite entertaining. However, the slides they showed before the movie were annoying. They contained completely random photos. One slide would have a picture of a peacock, the next of a flower, then an advertisement, and finally Eddie Murphy or some other star. It looked like someone had decided to torture us with a potpourri of autographed head shots and bad vacation photos. I have no idea why the management thought this was a good thing, but they should never do it again.
Well, I suppose I have to go to bed because I'm dead tired. I should be rested before I drive Alain to church tomorrow, or I'll run right off the road. I don't think either one of us plan on meeting our maker that soon.
