Yesterday I went to my old car to get the license and registration from the glove compartment. I didn't notice anything unusual until I opened the door to get out. I was suddenly flooded with a swarm of angry hornets. Of course I screamed like a little girl while batting frantically at the air.
After the hornets dispersed a little I became brave enough to see where they had come from. The stupid hornets built a hive inside the door! It's been broken down for a few months, but never in my wildest dreams did I think creatures would move in.
I scrambled to the other side of the car and tried not to panic. I thought I might be safer leaving through the other side. However, when I checked that door I heard an ominous buzzing sound and quickly shut it. I couldn't believe it. Trapped inside my own car.
I was locked in a test of wills. I needed to get out but the hornets were watching my every move. Every time I came close to the hive they raised their wings in anticipation. All I could think of were those crazy killer bee specials I've seen where a swarm of bees attack some helpless person, stinging them repeatedly until they died. I didn't want to end up on some animal attack special, but I had to get out of the car. I gathered up my courage and made a run for it.
I didn't think the hornets would actually chase me with such ferocity. I was several cars down before the swarm gave up and dispersed. I had to sneak back around in order to kick the car door shut.
The worse part is I still have to get everything out of the old car. If I had known it was inhabited with a security system of attack hornets, I would've retrieved everything right then. However, the next time I have to go in there I'll have an advantage. Those hornets will be receiving generous amounts of bug spray courtesy of one Talia Thomas.
On the up side, I finally got a new car. It's a 2002 Honda Civic. To tell the truth, I'm a little worried about making the payments. We got a good deal on it, so they're relatively low. However, I plan on going to school in Philadelphia sometime after I graduate from Kent. I don't know how I'd be able to pay for school, a place to live, insurance payments, and car payments. However, I've got to find a way because this car is mine for the next five years.
